Goodbye, Amazon.
Today, I asked Amazon to close my account (because I'm apparently too stupid to do it myself):
I used to like Amazon. I used to like them a lot. But this is getting out of hand. Go ahead and keep your account with them if you want — as for myself, I refuse to support businesses like this.
The minute Apple remotely kills a legitimate iPhone app, I will abandon them too.
I am outraged with Amazon's banning of API usage by third-party mobile applications, such as Delicious Library for iPhone, that I formerly used daily. You've put a lot of developers under the gun with zero warning. Today's remote deletion of 1984 and Animal Farm (ironically, books which speak against tyranny!) from all Kindles is the final straw. I had planned on purchasing a Kindle, but as a result of these incidents will be taking my business elsewhere. I strongly recommend that you discontinue these abusive behaviours before you lose more customers than you already have.
Please close my account immediately.
